The plug in wall sconce is a type of light that hangs on the wall. They can either be plugged into a socket or plugged directly into the electric of the house or business. They do not have to be on a table, desk or on the floor.
Sconces have been used throughout time and some of the wooden torches might be loosely termed wall sconces.
There are a couple of variations on the wall sconce. You have a wall sconce that is meant to be accent or ambient light. These are just for show and are often highly decorative. Most people will put either a colored bulb or a low wattage bulb in them just to highlight or accent a room or feature.
A regular sconce contains a regular bulb and is meant to provide light for a room. Normally these will replace a floor or desk lamp. People who do not have a lot of floor space or flat surfaces will often use these as an alternative. These also come in a vast variety.
Regardless of the type of wall light you have they can be wired into the house electric or plugged into a wall socket.
Those that are plugged in have the obvious problem of a cord running down the wall. Some people think that this is ugly or tacky so they would rather have the wired kind.
Using the type that is wired into the wall means either spending time installing it or money on someone to install it. Although it is easy to install them some knowledge of wiring is required. If you do not know what you are doing make sure you seek help in wiring something directly into the home electrics.
Using a plug in wall sconce adds a wonderful accent to your home. You can find them anywhere you find light fixtures.
Most of them will cost less than a comparable floor lamp. Whichever one that you prefer you will have a convenient light source for your home.
